My Poet Jacob

Victor and I are amazed at our son Jacob who is apparently a poet! He wrote these this week for an English assignment. We are also so proud that he was selected as 6th grade student of the week and for the school wide science fair. Way to go Jacob! We love you.

Can You Imagine…

Birds who don’t fly,
And chickens without thighs,
Birds who don’t chirp,
And babies who don’t burp,
A cabinet without a door,
And a hog that’s not a boar,
People without arms,
And lions who don’t harm,
Fiction books that are true,
And nonfiction books that aren’t true,
A dog without a cage,
And a book without a page.

Can You Vision…

A man without eyes,
And men who don’t die,
A dog without food,
And football fans who don’t boo,
A wedding without rings,
And a chicken without wings,
People without hearts,
And robots without parts,
A woman without a brain,
And tracks without a train,
Animals without heads,
And a mattress without a bed.

My Zachary

Does everyone remember the movie version of Annie? The one with Carol Burnett as Mrs. Hannigan? Well, this is Zachary's latest movie that he loves. The problem is, he found a part that he thinks is very funny and is using it in his everyday communication. I will try to set the scene for you:

Mrs. Hannigan runs an orphanage. She goes into the room where the girls are all sleeping and says, "Get out of bed, clean up this mess or there will be NO dinner!"

Zachary has taken parts of this and says it to us when appropriate...or not. For example, the get out of bed is used every morning, including saturdays, to get us out of bed. And my favorite is when he says, "There will be NO homework!" I am amazed by him more and more each day.

Ava is 2 months Old!

Here is Ava. Two months old, 11 pounds 8 ounces and 22 1/2 inches. We are noticing something new about her everyday. Her chubby cheeks, incredible blue eyes, long eyelashes, sweet smile, silky head full of hair, and the list goes on. I am having so much fun putting bows in her hair (a big thank you to Fran for the supply of bows and to Kristin for the trick on how to keep them in). I am amazed by the passage of time and how much she has changed in just two months. It hit me the other day when I realized she was outgrowing some of the outfits that were huge on her when she was just born. Once I got over the tears, I pulled down a tub and started to fill it up with clothes that are to small.
Jacob and Zachary are still in amazement with Ava. Zachary wants her to be at home and gets a little upset when he can't find her. When I change her diapers, he comes in her room and asks, "PooPoo?"
